As the national president of The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music & Worship Arts, I want to invite you to our upcoming national convocation, July 24-27, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The event, Awaken 2017, has been inspired by the 60th anniversary of the Little Rock Nine and the forced desegregation of Central High School. The convocation will help us understand how we as worship designers and leaders must be attuned to the injustices that continue to exist in our world—and how worship shapes us all to claim our role as Christ’s partners in bringing God’s reign here on earth.
I passionately believe that this convocation with its challenging theme will be transformative for those who attend—so much so that The Fellowship is willing to offer your annual conference free registration for two of your leaders who are not yet Fellowship members. These might include:
- the Bishop,
- a director of clergy excellence,
- the Annual Conference worship coordinator or designer, or
- a key pastor or music director that you believe could be instrumental in changing the culture of worship leadership in your conference.
Information about the leaders, program, and accommodations for the event can be found here on this website, using the navigation above.
HOUSING NOTE: Reservations at the Little Rock Marriott are required of all participants except residents of Arkansas. HINT: If you will be making your hotel reservations AFTER registering, simply enter “AnnConf” when asked for a hotel confirmation number. We’ll follow up later to collect your actual confirmation number.
When you’re ready to register your two conference leaders, use the button below to begin. Registrations will be marked as “Pending”, and will be “Confirmed” when all criteria are met.
This registration will cover the registration fee (regularly $379) AND include a complimentary one-year membership in The Fellowship. Additional costs include the required meal package ($160), an optional shuttle bus pass ($50), travel and housing costs.
Be sure to let me know if you have any questions about this invitation, or about how The Fellowship can be most helpful to your annual conference. We are eager to come alongside you to assist the worship leaders in your annual conference as they plan and lead transformative worship.
